Goodbye Eye Bags and Wrinkles, Here Comes Second Skin!
Skin In Science
Scientist at Harvard and M.I.T are testing a fascinating new product called Second Skin. This super thin film is painted over the skin where it drys to create a new, smooth layer that is waterproof and can be worn for several days. So far it has has been tested on under eye bags and facial wrinkles where is proving to restore the elasticity of youthful skin and diminish wrinkles. As skin ages it loses elastin (protein that provides your skin with bounce back when it’s pinched). When you pinch older skin it often sticks in that position, with second skin, it bounces back immediately. Another interesting thing about Second Skin is that you can soak it in sunscreen, apply and have whole day or two of waterproof sun protection.
Second skin is not holistic or organic by any means, it is composed of commonly used chemicals that are deemed safe by the drug administration. No allergic reaction have occurred in trials thus far. Gordan Vunkak-Novakovic, professor of biomedical engineering at Columbia thinks Second Skin is brilliant. “ They can use it as sort of a Band-Aid over old and aging skin and get very significant results,” he says.
Although Second Skin won’t be on the market anytime soon we think it’s brilliant too and we aim to keep you updated on innovative anti-aging techniques we discover along the way.
Much Love, GGC
